We are excited to announce that the 21st Annual Detroit Open Taikai will take place on February 16th and 17th, 2019, so please mark your calendars! The venue will be the Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan.

We plan on staying with our traditional schedule of seminar and a shinsa on Saturday (16th) followed by the taikai on Sunday (17th).

This year our distinguished tournament guests will be Kendo Kyoshi 8 Dan Yoji Ishida Sensei and Kendo Kyoshi 7 Dan Mariko Ishida Sensei from Osaka, Japan. Yoji Sensei is the runner-up of the Emperor Cup in the All Japan Kendo Championship 1992. Mariko Sensei is the two time winner of the Empress Cup in the All Women Japan Kendo Championship 1993 and 1994.

We can’t wait to see you in February!

We are looking forward to another great weekend of kendo and friends, so be on the lookout for more details that will be coming soon!
